Discover Which Foods Can Age You Years

Foods That Age YouYou are what you eat, and certain foods definitely make you look better than others. Your body literally rebuilds itself on a regular basis using the foods that you eat. Giving your body processed foods and high fructose corn syrup to work with is like trying to build a house with straw—it will not look very good and it does not take much to blow it down.

If you want to look radiant and hold back the wrinkles, then you need to eat food that your body can work with. It is not all about what you put on your face; it is what you put in your body that is most important. That is the big secret that women who look as sexy when they are fifty as they did when they were thirty understand.

Here is the best news of all: changing your diet to fill up your body with anti-aging foods is not all that expensive. All you need to do is make some smart choices and know a little science.

What causes you to get wrinkles in the first place? The biggest culprits are sugar, chemicals, and unhealthy fats. When sugar breaks down in the body, it creates free radicals and advanced glycation that literally targets and destroys the amino acids that keep your face looking good.

The older you get, the fewer amino acids your body has to work with. The fewer amino acids, the less radiant, smooth and all around amazing your skin becomes.

The problem is that most of our food today is filled with sugar—especially really bad sugar that accelerates this process dramatically. That is the bad news. And it is bad news, because it is so hard to avoid these foods.

Here’s the good news: certain antioxidants and nutrients can counter these sneaky free radicals. How? By supporting those very amino acids that make your face look so fabulous.
Cutting out the sugars, fillers, and bad fats that age your skin and filling yourself up with antioxidants and nutrients that slow down and even reverse the aging process is the key to keeping up a youthful look. That’s why superfoods are so important to slow down the aging process, they are filled with everything  your body and beauty loves.

Superfoods for Glowing Skin

Raisins – These sweet little treats are packed with resveratrol since they are just dried red grapes.  Need a reminder of the benefits of resveratrol, read this!  It is an antioxidant that slows down the aging process.  Look for Monukka raisins if you can but either way get them organic!

Pomegranate – This red seeded fruit contains ellagic acid that help you skin heal quickly.  Did you know it is a natural sunscren?  Drink pomegranate juice to boost your UV light protection by 25%, pretty cool!  You can also add fresh pomegranate juice to your sunscreen for additional protection.  Pomegranates are filled with powerful antioxidants.

Olives and Olive Oil – I <3 olives!!  Olives should be purchased raw for the best nutritional benefits.  Next time you eat an olive or put some olive oil on your salad know that it contains oleic oil.  Oleic oil will help plump your skin making wrinkles and lines less noticeable.  Nice!

Green Tea – Skin cells age, sad I know!  As they get older they don’t regenerate as often when we are young, which gives you a dull, sallow complexion.  Green tea helps your cells live longer, for a younger more radiant you!  It also helps your collagen fight off free radicals and protects against sun damage.

Carrots – A great snack!  Carrots are an amazing source of beta-carotene, this helps prevent your skin from prematurely aging and can even reverse any damage your skin has know!

Green Smoothies – A Beauty Secret

Green SmoothiesEat Greens To Stay Beautiful

When you were a child, I bet your mother often touted the importance of eating green vegetables.  Better vision and fewer trips to the doctor were common promises of adequate salad consumption.  When those health benefits failed to entice you, most desperate mothers would offer the standard, much more effective, incentive of dessert, and most kids cleaned their plate for a small serving of some sweet concoction. Now, however, hopefully you don’t need dessert to convince eat your  greens.

With so many health and beauty benefits of eating salad and other green vegetables, they’ve become my favorite part of every meal!  Try a green smoothie!

Many leafy greens, like romaine lettuce, kale, and spinach, have a number of essential antioxidants that are vital in maintaining health and making a marked difference in the way you look and feel.  These powerful vitamins and nutrients, which serve to strengthen bone, improve brain function, and help prevent cancer, can improve your health and vitality.  They can also directly impact your outer beauty, affecting skin, hair, and weight.

Specifically, the vitamin A found in most leafy greens can help keep your skin smooth and supple and it can work to prevent premature wrinkles. By aiding in the production of natural oil, it will help you retain skin moisture, which is not only a benefit to keeping your skin moisturized, but also to keeping your hair strong, smooth, and shiny.  Selenium, also found in many greens, can help give your skin and hair a healthy tone while preventing drying.  Vitamin E is another vitamin essential in keeping you moisturized and defending your skin against becoming too dry.  It also helps to fight acne and give you healthy, clear skin.  Vitamin B, which is thought to provide some natural protection against UV rays, can help ward off sun-damage and prevent premature wrinkles.

Eating leafy greens can also help you achieve your ideal figure.  Not only are they low in calories, but they aid digestion (which can reduce bloating) and are absorbed into the body more slowing, which can help minimize the effect on your blood sugar levels and therefore improve metabolism and help you feel full longer.

Getting your greens is an essential factor in beautiful skin, hair, and body, and they can actually be a delicious part of any meal.  Spend some time researching, trying, and perfecting the many ways to prepare your vegetables, keeping in mind that uncooked vegetables retain their vitamin content better than cooked ones. With so many delicious combinations and healthy dressings and sauces, there are no longer any excuses for leaving your vegetables on your plate.  So eat up! Your body will thank you.

Never tried a green smoothie before?   Just use your favourite smoothie recipe but add a couple of handfuls of spinach or kale, try to pick a mild green not a spicy one so you won’t even taste it.  Voila :)
