A few natural remedies to help your oily skin are as follows:

  1. Sandalwood powder – Take a half-tablespoon of sandalwood powder and add just enough water so that it takes the form of a paste. Then apply it all over your face, including the neck and hands, in an upward direction. After it dries completely, wash your face, neck and hands with lukewarm water. This treatment helps prevent oily skin’s accompanying acne and blackheads.
  1. Coconut Milk – As oily skin attracts dirt easily, causing the blockage of pores, oil secretion becomes aggravated and overactive.  When this occurs, milk can act as the perfect oil free cleanser. Washing your face with milk helps prevent enlarged pores from getting blocked and producing more oil.  Makeup residue is also damaging to your pores, so it is necessary to remove all makeup every night.  To remove makeup and open your pores, mix two to three drops of lavender oil (or sandalwood) with two tablespoons of coconut milk.  Massage the mixture thoroughly into your face in a gentle manner; this act will clear out all dirt, makeup and grime, leaving your skin refreshed and healthy.
  1. Corn flour, baking soda and rice powder – Exfoliating is absolutely necessary for those with oily skin so that moisture levels can become balanced and excess dead skin cells can be removed. One of the most effective and easy exfoliating agents to make and use is rice powder. Take one tablespoon of rice powder, one tablespoon of corn flour, mix it together and sprinkle some lemon juice on top.  Mix it into a paste; add a little water if the paste is too thick.  Then apply the paste on your face, massaging it into your skin in a gentle, upward motion. The rice powder will facilitate the removal of dead cells while the lemon juice refreshes and stimulates the nerves.  The natural chemicals present in the lemon juice also can help cure dark spots that are often a by-product of oily skin.  You can also use 2 tablespoons of baking soda, just mix with water until you get a paste and rub on your face in small circular motions for about 5 minutes, voila, super soft, exfoliated skin.
  1. Crab apple/Strawberries – Mash the pulp of a crab apple until it can be used as a paste.  Apply it to your face and neck, leaving it on for at least twenty minutes.  When time is up, use lukewarm water to gently wash your face.  Crabapples contain alpha hydroxy acids which are extremely effective in toning, softening, and moisturizing skin that is otherwise oily and dull.  Can’t find crabapples, try strawberries, pineapple or papaya for the same effect!
