Beauty-Full Avocado and Grapefruit Salad

Grapefruit & Avocado Salad

Let’s be honest, not everyone likes the taste of plain grapefruit. So, how do you get more grapefruit into your diet?  Remember this post about the benefits of grapefruit? Let’s start off with a couple of recipes. I love homemade beauty treatments. They’re economical and they give you the chance to control the ingredients. These recipes will make you glow from the inside out! They also help to control food cravings, which is helpful especially during this time of year. The secret is grapefruit and healthy fats. Don’t worry, it’s all tasty and full of beauty-enhancing vitamins.

My favorite way to serve grapefruit is to cut it into sections and sprinkle raw green stevia on it. You can easily grow your own stevia at home and dry it or look for Organic Traditions raw green stevia. So simple but so good! If you want a sneakier way to get the grapefruit in, try adding it to your next smoothie or your favorite juice. Just be sure to get all of the white pith off or it will be extremely bitter. I also like to squeeze grapefruit juice over a salad for a refreshing kick! You’d be amazed by how well it works with those greens. As promised, here are some of my favorite simple grapefruit recipes:

Grapefruit & Avocado Salad

1 Serving 1/2 of a small Grapefruit (segments peeled)

Big Handful of Arugula

1/4 of a Medium Avocado

1/4 Medium-Sized Cucumber (skin still on, thinly sliced)

Just drizzle with a little of your favorite healthy oil like flax, hemp, or olive and sprinkle with hemp seeds for some beauty- building protein. In addition to the benefits of grapefruit, here’s what else is going on in this powerful little salad mix. Arugula is high in sulfur and vitamin A. Together, they help to repair sun damage, regenerate skin cells, inhibit acne, and create healthier hair. The avocado is full of fiber, folate, and antioxidants. It also has carotenoids to help you absorb more nutrients from other foods, oleic acid to help keep your heart strong, and healthy fats to keep your skin and hair soft and supple. The cucumber is a good source of silica, which is essential for long, strong hair and vibrant, younger-looking skin.

Beautylicious Grapefruit Cocktail

Juice of one medium cucumber

Juice of one large grapefruit

Juice of 1 inch of ginger

So refreshing and delicious! Again, that cucumber is adding silica, calcium, vitamin A, and chlorophyll which helps with cleansing your body and water retention. The ginger improves digestion and circulation.

** Please note if you are taking any antibiotics, prescription drugs including birth control do not eat grapefruit during your treatment cycle. Grapefruit contain an enzyme that interferes with the drugs metabolizing properly.
